MEGlobal set its June North American Benchmark price for monoethylene glycol at 63 cents/lb, a rollover from May, a company source said Friday.
Market players said Friday there was also talk that other US producers could keep prices flat from May levels.
Earlier this week, MEGlobal announced its June Asia Contract Price for MEG at $1,190/mt CFR, which was flat from its May nomination, according to a company source. Price movements in the Asian market typically have a heavy influence on US prices, but industry sources have said the current turnaround season in North America was causing greater disconnect than usual between the two markets. MEGlobal's 850 million lbs/year plant in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, is currently undergoing a TA, which includes a catalyst change, sources said.
MEGlobal is a 50:50 joint venture between US-based Dow Chemical and Kuwait's Petrochemical Industries Co.
