The laminate manufacturer Formica intends to close down the Galdakao HPL plant in Bilbao trading as Formica S.A. by the end of 2012 and concentrate laminate production in Spain at the Valencia site. The decision was announced by the controlling company Fletcher Building. The CEO of the Fletcher Building division Laminates & Panels, Mark Adamson, who will also take over as CEO of the whole concern with effect from 1 October 2012, justified the decision with continuing utilisation problems at the two Spanish Formica plants.
