EBMag has learned that Electro-Federation Canada’s (EFC’s) Government Relations department launched a new initiative with the aim of improving member interaction with government: the MP Awareness Program.
Under this program, EFC contacts members to enquire whether they would be interested in meeting with the Member of Parliament that serves the riding in which their office or facility is located. When the member expresses interest, EFC will contact that MP’s office to schedule a meeting at either his riding or Parliament Hill office. There is also the possibility of arranging a site visit to the member’s facility.
“We believe meetings between EFC members and their local MP creates an unparalleled opportunity for the member to communicate their needs and concerns directly to their elected official,” says EFC.
EFC says it has been emailing and calling member companies to gauge their interest.
