The China International Clothing and Accessories Fair 2013 (CHIC 2013), which concluded last week, saw an increase in participation of European brands.
The fair saw participation of more than 400 foreign brands this year, with majority of them being European brands. Some firms participated in the expo for the first time.
While the number of exhibitors from Italy rose by over 60 percent from last year, the size of France and German pavilions increased by 15 percent.
However, the participation of German apparel brands was more eye-catching, as the exhibitors were mainly high-end brands.
Speaking to media at the German pavilion, Mr. Thomas Rasch, president of the German clothing industry association, said the number of German firms participating in the fair is increasing every year and CHIC 2013 saw participation of 30 German garment enterprises.
He said German clothing fabric and design styles are highly recognized by Chinese consumers. He added that German delegations representing various garment firms would visit the three northeastern provinces of China in October this year to promote their brands.
