454 New Ev Charging Stations Are Installed by British Columbia

The Government of British Columbia in Canada is partially funding an initiative to install 454 new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the state by the end of March 2013.

The government has already approved 75% funding from 71 organizations to install 286 charging stations at city halls, shopping centres, and hotels across the province.

Besides charging station incentives 12 local municipal/regional governments will receive $184, 416 in funding to help plan and identify priority locations for the remaining 168 stations.

In April 2012, Environment Ministry announced a $2.7m Community Charging Infrastructure (CCI) Fund to promote the use of electric transportation.

The CCI Fund is managed, administered and promoted by the Fraser Basin Council and the purpose of the fund is to support a network of about 570 charging stations in the province.

To date, about 210 EVs have been sold or leased under the Clean Energy Vehicle Program's point-of-sale incentive program.
