Norway-based TOMRA Sorting Solutions is set to establish a new facility in West Sacramento to manufacture food sorting and peeling equipment with an investment of $5m.
The new 60,000ft2 facility will become the company's North American headquarters and sales center for agri-business customers including Monsanto and ConAgra as well as a final assembly site for its industrial-size food sorting machines and technology
TOMRA is engaged in the production of commercial food sorting and peeling equipment in Slovakia, and ships them to West Sacramento for final assembly, testing, service and delivery.
Construction of the new facility is expected to be completed in March 2014 as part of a deal with developer Harsch Investment Properties, which will operate the center.
TOMRA has entered into a 12-year lease agreement with Harsch with options to extend the lease up to 27 years.
