A total of 1,850 companies have registered for participation in the second edition of ‘Gamarra Produce’, Peru’s Minister of Production Gladys Triveno has said.
 
The Minister was speaking at the launch of the second edition of the ‘Gamarra Produce’ which saw display of latest creations by enterprises located in the Lima district.
 
The creations were in four categories—womenswear, menswear, kidswear and sportswear.
 
The Minister said about 45 percent of the firms that were enrolled have met the minimum criterion required for participation in the second edition of the ‘Gamarra Produce’, a press release from the Ministry of Production said.
 
The criteria stipulates that the firm should be a micro and small enterprise, should be located in the commercial market Gamarra or provide a service of have business relationship with companies in Gamarra, should have proven experience of at least three years in one of the four categories, and should have a team.
 
Ms. Triveno said the second edition of Gamarra Produce will recognize and promote talent and creativity, will identify the level and degree of innovation and entrepreneurship of entrepreneurs, and boost their competitiveness. 
 
The second edition of Gamarra Produce will run for six months and will include the participation of Italian designer Francesca Liberatore, who has worked at major fashion houses such as Viktor & Rolf in Amsterdam, Jean Paul Gaultier in Paris and Brioni in Italy.
 
Francesca will be joined by prominent Peruvian designers like Andrea Llosa, Amaro Casanova, Roxana Laura Loo and Sacchi, who will help the companies develop their collections.
 
The Gamarra Produce initiative is part of the Ministry of Production’s multi-sectoral strategy “Me Pongo Gamarra”.
 
The Gamarra textile emporium is the largest in South America and young Peruvian designers have set the goal of making Gamarra products a benchmark for fashion in the world, the statement said.
