Crystalline-silicon solar cell maker Gintech Energy has said it has stopped using front-side PV silver paste produced by Giga Solar Materials to avoid potential legal disputes.
The Taiwan-based cell maker said the decision was made in response to allegations by DuPont Taiwan's sales representatives that the Giga Solar material might have infringed DuPont's patent.
Taiwan-based Solartech Energy has also replaced front-side PV silver paste supplied by the Taiwna-based Giga Solar with DuPont's product for producing solar cells for export to the US due to the same concern as Gintech's, according to Chinese-language newspaper Economic Daily News.
