Garden Fresh Foods is recalling approximately 13,600 pounds of meat and poultry salad products in the US,as they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes,according to US the Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service(FSIS).
FSIS noted that the salads contain Gill Onions,which have been subject to a recall by the Food and Drug Administration(FDA)due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.
The products subject to the recall are Finest Traditions Spiral Pasta and Chicken Salad;Finest Traditions Chicken Salad Spread;Finest Traditions Gemelli Pasta&Chicken Salad;Garden Fresh All White Meat Chicken Salad With Cranberries;Garden Fresh Chicken Salad;Garden Fresh Premium Chicken Salad;Garden Fresh Reduced Fat Chicken Salad;Market Pantry Chicken Salad With All White Meat Chicken;and Weis Ham Salad.
All the products were produced between 10 July and 16 July 2012.The packages bear the establishment number P-17256 or Est.17256 inside the USDA mark of inspection and have the lot number ink jetted on the package.The products were distributed to retailers and institutions nationwide.
FSIS was alerted to the problem by Garden Fresh Foods.The company was informed by a supplier that diced onions used in the product were subject to a FDA recall.
FSIS and the company have not received any reports of illnesses associated with consumption of this product.Anyone concerned about an illness have been advised to contact a healthcare provider.
