The Spanish national competition commission decided to open formal proceedings against a total of 24 Spanish pallet manufacturers, repair businesses, and the Spanish EPAL national committee Asociación Calipal Espana (Calipal). According to a report from the CNC, preliminary investigations have revealed adequate grounds to warrant the opening of proceedings. The companies are under suspicion of practices such as price-fixing agreements, illegal exchange of market information, and internal collusion over the division of sales areas. If the suspicions are confirmed, the companies could face fines of up to 10% of their annual turnover in the business year 2010. Source: euwid-wood-products
