Swedish automaker Scania has won a contract from mail and logistics firm PostNord to supply heavy trucks for the distribution of its packages and letters in Norway, Denmark and Sweden.
Under the agreement, Scania will deliver a total of 136 trucks, including 122 for PostNord's operations in Sweden by the end of 2012.
Scania International Fleet Sales senior key account manager Peter Eriksson said: "It confirms that Scania has trucks for both local and long haul transport services that meet PostNord's requirements for quality and for high performance when it comes to fuel consumption and environmental impact."
The order for local and regional distribution will be delivered with Scania's P-series trucks featuring a 9-litre 230 hp engine and the automated gearchanging system Scania Opticruise.
PostNord has selected Scania's G-series trucks featuring a 13-litre 400 hp engine mainly for its long haul transport services.
All Scania trucks are claimed to meet the enhanced environmental friendly vehicle (EEV), the highest environmental classification.
