Every Can Counts Work with Weymouth and Portland to Boost on-Street Recycling

Every Can Counts, a can recycling campaign, would work with Weymouth and Portland Borough Council to boost on-street recycling as the coming days witness more people visiting the town as tourists and spectators.

The recycling message would be enforced at the local community and visitors, through promotional roadshows in the town centre, and advertising on open top buses during the summer.

Retail centers and shop owners have been encouraged to provide collection points at point of sale and where the cans are consumed, in addition to educational materials that ease awareness.

Every Can Counts has developed a number of initiatives to encourage young consumers, as the Can Film Festival rewards positive recycling behavior in students with free film outings.

The program reportedly collected about 1m drinks cans, which represents 15 ton of aluminum and steel, during the 2011 festival season.
