Kendall Packaging Has Received FSSC 22000 : PAS 223 Certification

Kendall Packaging's Pittsburg, Kansas manufacturing facility has received Food Safety System Certification (FSSC) 22000 : PAS 223 Certification from the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).

The new certification, which is said to be on par with Level 2 of the SQF code, is also said to be a better fit for the suppliers of flexible packaging.

The company has achieved the certification following its understanding of the importance to attract consumer confidence and the impact of the FDA's Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).

KPC president and CEO Eric Erickson III said by achieving the certification the company continues to lead the flexible packaging industry in food safety initiatives.

The certification "demonstrates Kendall Packaging's commitment to producing safe, high-quality food packaging," Erickson III added.

In order to obtain the certification, the company had selected the FSSC 22000 scheme based on the teams' research that helped it in achieving the certification in nine months, from pre-assessment and all audits.
