Hewlett-Packard (HP) has produced personalized labels on its Indigo WS6000 series Digital Presses for Coca-Cola’s campaign ‘Share a Coca-Cola’, which has been designed to help the company engage with its consumers in 32 countries directly.
According to the information technology solutions provider HP, the project combined printing technology with HP Indigo Digital Printing to create 800 million labels for Coca-Cola.
The campaign substitutes the company's logo on its bottles of Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola light and Coca-Cola Zero with 150 of the first names, nicknames and terms of affection in each country.
The project is led by Peter Overbeek from ESHUIS, the Netherlands-based label converter, and comprised eight label converters across Europe who coordinated the production of labels on 12 HP Indigo presses.
Printed on a 38-micron BOPP wraparound material initially, the static content on the labels was later on personalized with the names using presses from HP.
HP Indigo Division vice president and general manager Alon Bar-Shany said: "There's a tremendous opportunity for companies like Coca-Cola to better engage their customers by making their brand and product stand out on store shelves through customized packaging."
