Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio-based Americhem Inc. — a provider of custom color and additive solutions for man-made fibers and plastics — has debuted its mBRACE? softening additive for nonwovens applications including apparel, health and hygiene, medical, battings and backings, upholstery and packaging.

The additive may be customized to provide specified levels of softness according to product application; and it may be combined with color and other additives, Americhem reports, to create a cost-effective masterbatch with multiple attributes.

"There has been an ongoing need for a globally available softening additive specifically designed for nonwovens, and Americhem is thrilled to offer a cost-effective solution to our customers," said Robert Baldy, nonwovens market manager, Americhem. "Confirmed by subjective testing, mBrace offers superior softness compared to its nearest competitive product, while delivering the ease of use and outstanding processability expected from Americhem's additives and masterbatches."
