In August of the current year, new motor vehicle registrations (including automobiles and commercial vehicles) in the German market totaled 236,610 units, down 22.81 percent month on month and increasing by 0.31 percent year on year, according to the data released by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). Meanwhile, in the January-August period of this year Germany's new motor vehicle registrations increased by 3.06 percent year on year, totaling 2,227,320 units.
According to the VDA, in August this year 295,720 motor vehicles rolled off production lines in Germany, which represents a month-on-month decrease of 29.38 percent and a year-on-year decline of 29.07 percent. German automobile output in the first eight months of the current year amounted to 3,924,160 units, showing a 4.68 percent increase from the same period of 2013.
In August this year, a total of 228,120 motor vehicles were exported from Germany, down 36.96 percent month on month and decreasing by 28.99 percent compared to August 2013. In the first eight months, German motor vehicle exports amounted to 3,004,220 units, increasing by 3.98 percent year on year.
The month-on-month decreases in Germany's motor vehicle production and exports were due to factory vacations which took place in August this year, as VDA stated.
