State of competition with rival brands
In April 2015, Australian Food News reported that Safcol's competitor John West had launched a ready-to-eat tuna meal range.
Nielsen's market survey figures reported by RetailWorld in December 2014 revealed that in the canned fish market John West (owned by Simplot) had a 36.1 per cent brand volume share, Sirena has 12.6 per cent, Greenseas 8.8 per cent, private label 33.9 per cent, and other brands make up the remaining 8.6 per cent.
