US-based Malt-O-Meal Company has introduced the Sally's brand cereal in green packaging.
Malt-O-Meal said by packaging Sally's cereal in resealable bags and eliminating the exterior box, the cereal bags leave less consumer packaging to recycle or dispose of than comparably-sized bag-in-box cereals.
The company has partnered with TerraCycle Canada, an international upcycling company to further reduce its packaging waste.
Through this partnership with TerraCycle, consumers can collect empty Sally's cereal bags and return them to TerraCycle for upcycling.
Malt-O-Meal's corporate communications manager Linda Fisher said the partnership allows the company to reduce packaging waste by creating a second life for used Sally's cereal bags.
