Esdevium distributed game sells out following weekend appearance.
Rocket Games’ Pie Face board game was given a pre-Christmas sales boost at the weekend when it appeared on The Jonathan Ross Show.
Distributed in the UK by Esdevium Games, Pie Face was handed to comedian Jimmy Carr as a Christmas present, but soon prompted all five celebrity guests to get involved in a Pie ‘Face-off’.
Barbara Windsor, Lewis Hamilton, Ed Sheeran, David Walliams along with Ross and Carr then took turns each with their own personalised game to twist the handles and await their fate.
First to fall splat on their face was the Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton, followed by Little Britain star Walliams, then Barbara Windsor, Ed Sheeran and Jonathan Ross with Carr declared the winner.
But Hamilton was not going to allow the 8 Out of 10 Cats frontman escape scott-free and duly reached over to push the pie into Carr's face.
"It was pure TV gold," said Rocket Games MD Graham Thornton. "Not only did it provide great entertainment and plenty of laughs, the endorsement and exposure from stars like these on peak-time TV was something money can't buy."
The appearance led to Pie Face selling out in most retailers within minutes, with more stock in transit.
“The coverage was unbelievable, we couldn’t have asked for anything more” said Esdevium Marketing Manager, Ben Hogg. “It puts the game in a really strong position going into next year too. Perhaps we can convince retailers to hold their own Pie Face games in store.”
