LCD TV Shipment to Reach 229 Million Units in 2015

LCD TV shipments are expected to reach 229 million units in 2015, up from 217 million in 2014, and are expected to further grow to 245 million in 2017.

According to supply chain estimates, shipments will increase 3-5% on year throughout 2017, driven by increased demand in emerging markets as well as rebounding demand in mature economies.

Within the numbers, the sources estimate the proportion of larger-size 55- to 65-inch units will continue to increase annually as will Ultra HD TVs sized 50-inch and above.

In terms of LCD TV shipments, Samsung Electronics held the number one spot with a 22.7% share in the first half of 2014 followed by LG Electronics at about 15%. TPV and Foxconn were the two main LCD TV OEMs during the period.

China TV vendors also increased their global proportions, with TCL reaching 8%, Hisense 7%, Skyworth 5.1% and Konka 4.2%. During the first half, China vendors' cumulative global proportion reached 28.1% and that number is expected to continue increasing as the vendors enter more markets abroad, the sources added.
