German carmaker Audi has unveiled the revamped 2013 R8 two-seater sports car with several changes including the addition of the new roofless Spyder, an optional V10 and the GT model.
According to the carmaker, the entry level 2013 Audi R8 is powered by a 4.2 FSI V8 engine, which will generate an output of 430hp at 7,900 and a 317lb-ft torque between 4,500 and 6,000 rpm.
The engine will be mated to a 7-speed S tronic transmission, which will allow the car to speed up from 0 to 62mph in 4.3 seconds and offer a top speed of 186 mph, while the manual transmission variant will allow the car to sprint from 0 to 62mph in 4.6 seconds.
The R8 V8 Spyder variant can sprint from 0 to 62mph in 4.5 seconds when mated to a S tronic transmission while 4.8 seconds with the manual.
The top model R8 will be powered by a V10 engine, which will generate an output of 525-hp at 8,000 rpm and 391lb-ft of torque at 6,500 rpm.
Mated to an S tronic transmission, the R8 V10 Coupe can sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 195 mph, while the manual version sprints in 3.9 seconds and offers a top speed of 196 mph.
The 2013 Audi R8 V10 Spyder version can sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 3.8 seconds when mated to a S tronic and offers a top speed of 193 mph, while engine can reach from 0 to 62 mph in 4.1 seconds and achieve a top speed of 194mph when integrated with a manual transmission.
German carmaker said that the base price for V8 Coupé is EUR 113,500 and Spyder will be priced at EUR 124,800, while the V10 variants will be priced at EUR 154,600 and EUR 165,900 respectively, with the R8 V10 plus to be on sale at EUR 173,200.
The new 2013 R8 line of vehicles will be on sale in Europe by the end of 2012.
