Ireland-based food company ABP Food is set to shut down its Freshlink sausage facility in Glasgow,Scotland,early next year,a move which will lead to a loss of 150 jobs.
The factory,which represents the ABP Food's UK sausage division Freshlink,is a leading private frozen sausage supplier in the UK.
In a statement,ABP Foods said this decision results from an competitiveness-driven restructuring of the activities of Freshlink Foods and a sister facility within the group to which the business is being shifted.
Following the closure,the sausage production will be shifted to ABP's facility in Yorkshire over the next six months.
Freshlink Foods said that the employees will be offered assistance and support as they pursue alternative employment,to include other opportunities within the wider group.
