Participation in the Intertextile Beijing Apparel Fabrics 2013, China’s annual textile trade show, has helped Taiwanese textile companies’ bag overseas spot orders worth US$ 480,000 or NT$ 14.35 million, according to the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF).
Moreover, looking at the interest expressed by the prospective buyers, the 26 Taiwanese firms that participated in the show are likely to bag additional orders worth over US$ 2.5 million in near future, TTF added.
Taiwanese firms showcased several innovative items like green fabrics, lace fabrics, sportswear and embroidery items at the show held at the Beijing-based China International Exhibition Centre from March 27-29, 2013.
At this year’s edition, Taiwanese firms occupied around 330 sq m of the total 50,000 sq m of space available at the centre. There was a ten percent increase in the space occupied by Taiwanese textile firms compared to last year.
In all 1,330 participants from 16 countries including Italy, South Korea, Pakistan, India, Japan, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Thailand, the UK, Hong Kong, Portugal, the US and Turkey, participated in the event.
The show, considered most important of all textile expos in northern China, drew buyers from several Asian and European countries.
Global brands like Polo Ralph Lauren, H&M, GAP and Burberry were among the 850 potential buyers who visited the show.
Alongside the event, 17 seminars were held on various topics like fashion trends, manufacturing techniques, marketing, environmental protection and legal affairs.
TTF said it would start preparing for participation in the next edition of the event from October 2013.
