Local media reports quoted words of board chairman and CEO of UC Mobile Ltd. saying that the company will spend USD 170 million or INR 9.4 billion in global expansion. Most investment will be put into India, aiming to build up a vigorous mobile Internet ecological system locally.
UC Mobile planned to invest USD 500 million or INR 27.5 billion home and abroad in the future three years. The investment in India is one step taken for the plan.
Currently, UC Mobile takes 27% of the Indian mobile phone browser market, likely to outpace Opera that took 30% market share at the end of 2012.
