In 2012 Ukraine Registered an 11.9percent Decrease in Its Finished Steel Product Output

According to the data issued by Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers, in 2012 Ukraine registered an 11.9percent decrease in its finished steel product output to 26.819 million mt, a 6.6 percent decrease in its crude steel output to 32.394 million mt and a 1.3 percent decline in its pig iron production to 28.513 million mt, all on year-on-year basis.

In the given period, Ukraine saw a 9.4 percent decrease in its steel pipe production to 2.014 million mt.

The country's production of metallurgical coke went down by 3.3 percent year on year to 18.931million mt.

In 2012, Ukraine produced 66.379 million mt of iron ore concentrate and 22.313 million mt of iron ore pellets - up 0.9 percent and down 0.2 percent respectively compared to 2011.In December alone, Ukraine produced 2.073 million mt of finished steel products - down 5.1percent, 2.566 million mt of crude steel - down 4.5 percent, 98,800 mt of steel pipes - down 30.9percent, and 1.523 million mt of metallurgical coke - up 1.9 percent, all on month-on-month basis.
