Pulp and paper manufacturer in Finland Stora Enso will develop a new digital package printing solution B2 coater, Stora Enso Lakka for the consumer paperboard packaging market.
The new Stora Enso Lakka will integrate in-line with the new 750mm wide sheet-fed HP Indigo 30000 Digital Press, designed specifically to print paperboard packaging and is expected to be commercially available in late 2013.
As part of the cooperation, an inline press and coater line - integrating HP Indigo 30000 Digital Press with Stora Enso's new coating unit Stora Enso Lakka, will be co-developed.
The new 750 x 530mm HP Indigo 30000 Digital Press, developed specifically for the folding-carton market can print on any board up to 600 microns thick, accommodates almost all box, sleeve and blister applications and offers capabilities in digital package printing.
Available as a module of the integrated production line or as a stand-alone system, the Stora Enso Lakka coater will process B2-sized sheets and uses aqueous or UV coating for quality folding cartons from 180 to 500g/m2.
The integrated production line with the new press and in-line coating unit modules, will offer a digital solution to folding-carton converters, the company said.
