Tanzania's MeTL Group Is Planning to Set up a Cotton Ginnery in Zambia

Tanzania’s MeTL Group is planning to set up a cotton ginnery in the Southern African country of Zambia to provide a ready market for small-scale cotton growers in the region.
 
The MeTL Group intends to set up a ginnery with a view of buying cotton from small-scale farmers to process it locally, reported Times of Zambia.
 
Cosmas Mtesigwa, deputy chief executive officer of MeTL Group, said the firm wanted to bring huge investments into the country for betterment of the Zambian people and help contribute towards the nation’s economic development.
 
Mr. Mtesigwa said the company expects to employ not less than 80 local people once it sets up the ginnery in the country.
 
The company has already invested in Mozambique, Uganda and South Africa, just extended services into Malawi and was now moving into Zambia, he added.
