Prices for Welded Tubes and Hollow Sections in Greece Have Slightly Increased

Prices for welded tubes and hollow sections in Greece have slightly increased over the last two/three weeks, Steel Business Briefing learns from local sources. In line with other southern European producers, Greek mills expect prices to rise further in September. Currently, the average price for S235 quality tubes is said to be at €630-650/t ($893-921/t) ex-works, still some €0-100/t below the offers in other southern European countries. "There had been a slight increase, but nothing major, " a distributor explains to SBB. Some offers from Greek welded tubes and hollow sections producers were as low as €600-620/t ex-works in June, SBB understands. Greek mills are still looking at the export markets to secure orders. However, few orders have been executed for exports in the last month, SBB understands from an industry source. "We'll be back in the export market in September, but prices for our finished products then may not be as competitive as now, " he adds. Following the trend initiated by Italian and Spanish producers, the Greek market is also expecting increases in the range of €20-40/t for welded tubes. "Prices for HRC and CRC from Ukraine have slightly increased, we need to pass on these increase to our customers in September. Of course it will depend on market demand, " the source concludes.
