Speakers at a seminar organised by the Bangladesh’s Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) in Rajshahi said there should be emphasis on promoting more silk export from the region for making its economy vibrant.
They also said boosting production of local yarn can help bolstering the export list and revitalise the silk sector to regain its lost legacy while meeting local demands.
They also stressed the need for enhancing export items through establishing industries based on agricultural and non-agricultural products in the region by utilising government initiatives aimed at earning foreign exchange.
Under its national training programme, the EPB organised the seminar where more than 50 government and non-government officials, exporters, entrepreneurs and others attended.
The speakers also urged the producers of the region to produce more qualitative silk clothes using the favourable climatic condition to promote export activities.
Highlighting the present export position of agro-products sectors of the country and their global market, they asked the bankers to fund exporters.
