Singapore public transit operator SBS Transit has ordered 450 Diamler’s two-door, 12m long Mercedes-Benz Citaro low-floor buses which comply with the Euro 5 emission standard.
Diamler said that the buses will be manufactured at the EvoBus facility in Mannheim in Germany and the deliveries of first of 450 Citaro buses are scheduled in fall 2012, with complete deliveries scheduled by the end of 2015.
The EvoBus plant has started production of the first series-production Citaro from May 2012 to meet the requirements of Euro VI emissions standard.
In April 2011, SBS Transit had placed an initial order for 300 Mercedes-Benz Citaro buses, last of which are currently being delivered to the operator.
The buses feature Mercedes-Benz BlueTec diesel technology and closed-circuit cameras for observing the passenger area as well as the outside of the bus.
Diamler has produced 33,000 units of the Citaro city bus over a period of 13 years.
