Japan Accounting for 24.63% of Export Value in 2013 and 34.23% in January-February 2014

Japan has become the largest market for China-made PV products, accounting for 24.63% of total export value in 2013 and 34.23% in January-February 2014, according to the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME).

The Asia market took up 44.78% of China's total PV export value in 2013, and the proportion for January-February 2014 rose to 52.39%, CCCME said, adding the proportion for the Europe market dropped from 30.26% in 2013 to 22.56% in January-February 2014.

There has been overcapacity for PV production in China and therefore it is necessary for China-based makers to undergo mergers without local governments' intervention, CCCME said. The ideal number of PV makers in China is 3-5 and no more than 10, CCCME indicated.
