According to the preliminary data released by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, in September this year price, calendar and seasonally adjusted industrial production in Germany decreased 1.1 percent compared to the previous month, influenced by the 2.1 percent month-on-month fall in output of capital goods.
According to the ministry's report, production decreased by 1.8 percent in the construction sector in September, while intermediate goods manufacturers decreased their production by 0.2 percent and output of consumer goods remained unchanged, all compared to the previous month.
In the third quarter of the current year, overall German industrial production was up by 0.3 percent, while output in the construction industry increased by 2.1 percent, both compared to the preceding quarter.
The report indicated that, despite the slight decline in September, output in the industrial sector and the construction sector is generally pointing upwards with increases in the third quarter compared to the second quarter. The upward trend in the industrial sector and in the construction sector is indicative of a continued economic rebound, the report said.
