Valensa Has Announced That It Has Received US FDA Generally Recognized as Safe Status

Valensa International has announced that it has received US Food&Drug Administration(FDA)Generally Recognized as Safe(GRAS)status for its Parry Organic Spirulina ingredient.

Valensa International claimed that Parry Organic Spirulina is the first organic spirulina in the world to achieve FDA GRAS status.This designation will broaden the range of food applications for which the product will be considered by food developers and marketers,the company said.

The new status means that the product is safe to be used as an ingredient in several food products including breakfast cereals,fresh fruits and fruit juices,and frozen dairy desserts,at a level of 0.5-3g spirulina per serving.

The company also announced that a two-year program to enhance the flavor of Parry Organic Spirulina has been completed,a move which is expected to broaden its consumer appeal.

Valensa and Parry Nutraceuticals worked with research and consulting firm the AIBMR Life Sciences,to facilitate the recognition by the FDA.

Valensa president and CEO Rudi E Moerck the objective behind investments in FDA-recognized GRAS status and a milder-tasting ingredient is a part of the company's effort to broaden the consumer acceptance of its Parry Organic Spirulina.
