British Gas has been selected as exclusive supplier of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions for vehicles of Japanese carmaker Mitsubishi Motors within the UK.
The collaboration will further allow customers to access a range of British Gas charging solutions as well as buy a dedicated circuit priced from £375 that prevents overloading of home electrical supply.
Mitsubishi Motors in the UK managing director Lance Bradley said the partnership with British Gas comes at an exciting time for the firm, with sales of the Mitsubishi i-MiEV and the launch of the Outlander PHEV in 2013.
"British Gas is well placed to be at the forefront of the electric vehicle market and we can now guarantee that new and existing customers will receive the very best advice about safe and efficient charging, free of charge, as electric vehicles move more into the mainstream," Bradley said.
Further, British Gas will also be allowed to set up a wall-mounted charging solution from £799, which is claimed to reduce charging time by around a third.
According to the carmaker, customers in London, the East of England, the Midlands and Milton Keynes can also opt a free Chargemaster Homecharge-i unit.
British Gas New Ventures director Dan Taylor said pure-EVs and plug-in hybrids are an increasingly popular solution to people's concerns over controlling costs and preserving the environment.
