German carmaker Audi has unveiled the new 2+2-seater crosslane plug-in hybrid concept coupé at the ongoing 2012 Paris motor show in France.
Powertrain system of the new dual-mode hybrid concept includes a 1.5litre, three-cylinder TFSI engine that will generate an output of 130hp and 200Nm of torque and two electric motors.
The first electric motor mainly acts as a starter and an alternator generating an output of 68hp and 210Nm of torque, while the electrical traction motor will produce 116hp output and 250Nm of torque.
According to the carmaker, the complete powertrain system generates a total output of 174hp, which will allow the concept to sprint from 0-100km/h (62.14mph) in 8.6 seconds.
The 17.4-kWh lithium-ion battery pack powering the electric motors is claimed to offer 53miles of all-electric driving mode prior to shifting of the gas engine into extend range.
The concept deploys a new multimaterial space frame, which is made of an aluminum frame in addition to carbon-fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP) and glass-fiber reinforced polymers (GFRP) that combine to reduce weight of the vehicle, the carmaker said.
Audi revealed that the new concept comes with a choice of 'cruise' and 'race' settings enabling the driver to select the driving modes as per the requirements.
The new concept coupe is claimed to consume 1.1litres of fuel per 100km, while emitting 26g/km of CO2.
