PWCS's Coal Exports Volume Increases by 4.5 Percent in H1

Coal exports from the Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS) terminals based at Port of Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia, totaled 9.2 million mt in June this year, rising by 11.2 percent compared to May, according to the company's announcement. However, only eight percent of the total coal handled at the terminals was coking coal.

In the first half of this year, coking coal exports constituted 16 percent of overall coal exports from PWCS, which totaled 53.3 million mt, up 4.5 percent compared to the same period last year.

According to the released information, Japan was the largest export destination for coal shipments from PWCS in the first half of the year, with shipments to Japan accounting for 51.8 percent of total shipments, while coal exports to China made up 20.3 percent of the total.
