Mazda Has Previewed Four Concept Cars Unveiling at The SEMA Show

Mazda Reveals Four-Car SEMA Show Line-up

Mazda has previewed four concept cars it plans to unveil at next month’s SEMA aftermarket show in Las Vegas.

Comprising hatch and sedan versions of the all-new Mazda 3 and two Mazda 6 models, the cars’ styling changes can be seen in the images, though the car maker has revealed few other details at this stage.

The most motorsport-focused of the foursome is the white Mazda 3 hatch.

With a low-slung stance, large-diameter black wheels containing red brake calipers and a black and red-themed aero package, the SEMA special also sports a black roof, black wing mirrors and a large ’3′ graphic stamped on its door. A bonnet-mounted ’2.5′ decal also suggests its use of the 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine destined for the new Mazda 3 SP25 variant.

The higher-riding red Mazda 3 sedan is far more subtly styled compared with its hatch sibling, with tamer graphics, a plain black front lip spoiler and side skirts and 10-spoke wheels. It again is topped off with a black roof and red brake calipers.

With identical wheels, albeit finished in chrome, the white Mazda 6 gains unique pinstripe-style graphics, a black roof and yellow brake calipers.

Looking far more aggressive, the gunmetal grey Mazda 6 mirrors the white Mazda 3 with a black roof, black wing mirrors and matching wheels and brake calipers. It also sports a purposeful body kit and ‘CS6 Diesel’ graphics down the doors.

Whether the latter relates to the standard 129kW/420Nm 2.2-litre four-cylinder or a high-performance engine borrowed from the Skyactiv-D Grand-Am GX racecar is unknown.

Already confirmed to join the four Mazda concepts at this year’s SEMA show when it begins on November 5 are 57 cars from Ford, including customised versions of the Ford Mustang and Ford Focus ST, and five modified Hyundai concepts based on the Veloster Turbo and Genesis coupe.

Last year, Mazda brought a trio of custom CX-5 SUVs to the show, each with their own distinctive style.
