Global high performance materials company Ahlstrom is set to extend its release papers range produced with the introduction of calendered Ahlstrom SILCA Soft grades.
The company aims to address the growing market needs and offer further local supply alternatives to imported glassine or supercalendered kraft release papers, by extending the product range in Brazil, and plans equipment modifications to enable larger production volumes for August 2012.
The calendered backing paper, Ahlstrom SILCA offers the required properties for siliconizing and converting process and is well adapted for labelstock applications.
According to Ahlstrom, the products complement the existing range of Ahlstrom SILCA release papers manufactured in Europe and are used by the Pressure Sensitive-Adhesive (PSA) industry worldwide.
Ahlstrom's release papers are manufactured in Europe and South America and are part of the offering of the company's label and processing business area.
The PSA labeling market is estimated to grow by 5-7% per year in Brazil and South America.
