Uzbekistan-based steel producer Uzmetkombinat has announced that it has modernized its steel production at a cost of $17.094 million.
The modernization included construction of a steel degassing facility on a turnkey basis with a capacity of 150,000 mt of liquid steel per year. The project also included reconstruction of the integrated steel processing unit. The supplier of equipment was Romania-based Adrem Invest.
The construction of a vacuum plant was carried out in preparation for another project, i.e. the commissioning in 2016 of production of steel seamless hot-deformed pipes with a capacity of 100,000 mt annually. The project cost is $240 million.
