PV Installation Capacity Is Possible to Decrease in 2015, 2016

As the Japan government is set to reduce feed-in tariffs for PV power-generating stations with installation capacities of at least 10KWp from JYP32 (US$0.27)/kWh currently to JPY25-29/kWh in 2015, the total installation capacity for newly established PV systems and power-generating stations in Japan is likely to decrease from 9.0GWp in 2014 to 7.0GWp in 2015 and 5.8GWp in 2016, according to industry sources in Taiwan.

In the US market, there iwill be a rush to install PV systems and power-generating stations in 2015 and 2016 because tax credits for such installations will be reduced from 30% currently to 10% beginning January 1, 2017, the sources said. Consequently, the total installation in the US may increase from 4.5GWp in 2014 to 6.0GWp in 2015, the sources indicated.

The total installation capacity in China in 2014 is estimated at 10.0GWp and the China government has set a target of 15.0GWp for 2015, consisting of 7.0GWp for rooftop systems and 8.0GWp for power-generating stations, the sources said.
