Closed Loop Recycling has sought all-party support for the 'We need your bottles' campaign that was officially launched in the presence of waste and recycling minister Lord Taylor in London.
According to the firm, the campaign is meant for raising awareness throughout the bottles' recycling supply loop, including for the environment and for green job creation.
Closed Loop Recycling CEO Chris Dow said the firm has set sights on achieving DEFRA recycling target of 42% earmarked for 2012, through the MRF Code of Practice and bigger implementation of the PRN System to create a level playing field for the UK industry.
Conservative MP Zac Goldsmith noted that 240,000 tons of plastic bottles ended up in landfills last year which, had they been recycled would be worth tens of million pounds.
