German luxury car maker BMW is recalling 24,000 units of its cars in US over emission control systems defect.
According to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the vehicles manufactured from the 2009 - 2011 will be affected by this recall, and the effected vehicles will liberate smoke out of the tailpipes.
About 2,740 units of the 2011 - 2012 BMW X5 xDrive50i and X6 xDrive50i, together with the 21,600 units of the 3-Series 335d vehicles, will also have to be taken to the dealers.
BMW said that the above mentioned vehicles have problem with parts in the emissions system which includes SCR catalyst, theEGR valve or the DEF mixer, which calculate incorrect vehicle mileage and lead to higher CO2 emissions from the tailpipe.
