US Iron and Steel Scrap Exports Decreases by 4.77 Percent Compared to October

According to the statistics released by the US International Trade Commission (US ITC), in November last year exports of iron and steel scrap from the US amounted to 1.24 million mt, decreasing 6.17 percent from October and down 10.58 percent compared to November 2012. The value of these exports decreased by 4.77 percent compared to October and by 11.96 percent year on year, falling to $505.85 million.

In November last year, Turkey was the leading scrap export destination of the US, importing 266,655 mt, recording a 21.31 percent fall compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, Taiwan imported 252,295 mt of scrap from the US in October, up 22.13 percent month on month.

In the first 11 months of last year, exports of iron and steel scrap from the US totaled 16.93 million mt, decreasing by 14.47 percent year on year.
