According to statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Turkish Under secretariat of Customs, Turkey's steel import amount fell to US$1.5 billion in May, decreasing by 20.5% year on year and dipped by 16.2% from a month ago.
In the first five months of this year, Turkey's iron and steel imports reached at US$7.6 billion, falling by 9.9% year on year.
Meanwhile, the import revenues of articles of iron or steel stood at US$1.1 billion, up by 23% year on year.
In addition, the total exported volumes of iron and steel in May fell to US$939.5 million, down by 1.5% from April and dipped by 12.1% year on year.
In the first five months of the current year, the country's iron and steel exports stood at US$4.7 billion.
