Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) has organized a fire safety training workshop in association with one of the world’s leading inspection and certification company – SGS, to allow the sector to get social and safety compliance certifications.
According to PRGMEA Central Chairman Sajid Salim Minhas, the one-day workshop formed a part of the series of fire safety training programmes undertaken by the association to win back the confidence of global buyers for value-added textile items of Pakistan.
He said it was the first instance where such an international training session was conducted in Pakistan in association with SGS, to address the vital fire safety and risk assessment needs of the Pakistani textile industry.
Earlier, PRGMEA organized similar training programmes at Lahore and Karachi in association with Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP). This well exemplifies that the industry is headed towards accepting the responsibility of social and safety compliances in its totality.
Calling fire and safety compliances and adherence to international norms as the key to sustain exports and thereby the industry, Mr. Minhas promised to hold more such workshops and seminars to keep the industry updated regarding changing industrial scenario.
Several industry representatives attended the programme organized at Pakistan Readymade Garments Technical Training Institute (PRGTTI).
