Spanish LNG Throughput Fell 27.7% From The Corresponding Week of Last Year

Spanish LNG throughput in the week that ended Sunday fell 27.7% from the corresponding week of last year, according to data released Monday by gas grid operator Enagas.

LNG throughput from Spain's six import terminals totaled 1.39 TWh last week, down from 1.92 TWh a year earlier, with declines seen at four of the six facilities.

Throughput at Mugardos, the smallest of the six terminals, totaled 60.2 GWh in the week ended Sunday, 83.5% below that of a year ago. The terminal sent no gas into the national grid on seven of the first 20 days of April because of weaker demand and high storage levels, Enagas said.

Elsewhere, throughput at Huelva last week fell 43.9% year on year to 152.6 GWh, while volume was down 30.7% at Barcelona to 444.3 GWh and down 15.7% to 325.1 GWh at Bilbao.

Throughput at Sagunto, however, rose 381% year on year to 158.5 GWh, the data showed. LNG throughput at Cartagena rose 11.1% year on year to 247.1 GWh.

Ten tankers were unloaded during the week that ended Sunday, with one reloaded and a second reload begun on Sunday. Total intake was 1.05 million cubic meters of liquid while total reloaded volume was 171,000 cu m.

Barcelona received one tanker with 119,100 cubic meters of gas and reloaded none; Cartagena unloaded three with a combined 266,500 cu m, reloaded one with 136,300 cu m and started a second reload with 34,700 cu m; Huelva unloaded three ships with 325,000 cu m and reloaded none; Bilbao unloaded one with 125,700 cu m and reloaded none; Sagunto unloaded one for 72,300 cu m and made no reloads and Mugardos unloaded one tanker with 142,700 cu m of LNG and also reloaded none.

LNG stocks Sunday stood at 15.9 TWh, equal to about 52.2 days of demand, Enagas said.

Total Spanish demand during the week fell 16.8% year on year to 4.42 TWh.
