According to data released by the South African Revenue Service (SARS), in July of the current year the value of South Africa's exports of base metals and articles thereof totaled ZAR 10.3 billion ($966.5 million), falling by 6.6 percent from June. In the first seven months of this year, South Africa's export value of base metals and articles thereof increased by 25.8 percent year on year, reaching ZAR 71.16 billion ($6.67 billion).
In July this year, the country's imports of base metals and articles thereof amounted to ZAR 4.1 billion ($384.7 million), down four percent from June, while in the first seven months South African imports of base metals and articles thereof decreased by 1.7 percent year on year, amounting to ZAR 27.5 billion ($2.6 billion).
