US carmaker General Motors has reported 10% rise in its domestic sales during August 2012 to 240,520 vehicles when compared to 218,479 units sold during the corresponding month in 2011.
According to the carmaker, Silverado pickup reported sales of 4% rise to 38,295 units, while sales of Chevrolet Cruze increased 19.1% to 25,975 during the month when compared to the same month the previous year.
During the month, Chevrolet passenger car sales increased 25%, in addition to rise in sales of Buick, GMC to 12.4% and 3.7% respectively.
Sales of Cadillac improved 11.3%, which was due to the increased demand for the SRX crossover, the Escalade and the new XTS large sedan.
August sales to the carmaker's retail customers and fleet customers reported respective rises of 11% and 6% respectively, when compared to the year ago period.
