The City of Veresegyház in Hungary Will Use GE Zeeweed 500D Ultrafiltration MBR

The city of Veresegyház in Hungary will use GE ZeeWeed 500D ultrafiltration membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology to increase water reuse at its water treatment plant. The plant's wastewater treatment processes will be upgraded with four GE ZeeWeed 500D trains, eight cassettes and 288 modules. This will increase the plant’s treatment capacity to 5000 m3/day and improve the region’s water quality. Veresegyház, a suburb of Budapest, has been experiencing a freshwater shortage in recent years. The water treatment plant upgrade, which is in response to new regulations governing water reuse, will give Veresegyház access to more water for both industrial and residential use. “Around the world, we see a trend that more and more governments are enacting regulations for water reuse. The 25-year-old wastewater treatment plant in Veresegyház will now be upgraded with GE’s ZeeWeed technology, and the region will see an improvement in effluent water quality, ” said Heiner Markhoff, president and CEO - water and process technologies for GE Power & Water.
