Cycle Group Inc. has hired Colin Esquibel as engineering product developer. He will help expand CGI's product design, development and manufacturing capabilities.
CGI is a Southern California-based supplier of aftermarket bicycle components and accessories under the BOX and Promax brand names.
Esquibel brings more than 20 years of experience in the bicycle industry, ranging from frame design and manufacturing to aftermarket component development and sourcing to testing and validation in World Cup racing and test lab scenarios. Most recently, he worked at Crankbrothers.
His experience in design and sourcing will help bring CGI's new products to market faster, the company said in a press release.
"Colin is our second addition to the design team in the past two months. We're really looking forward to having him here. He brings with him 3D design skills we have been missing internally, as well as experience and connections with factories we currently work with and others we'd like to," said Toby Henderson, CGI's founder and executive director.
Esquibel starts at CGI Sept. 1. He will work closely with Toby Henderson, Michael Gamstetter, CGI's senior product designer and senior brand manager, and Anthony Thomas, mountain bike brand manager. He will join CGI at Mammoth for the Kamikaze Games as well as attend Interbike.
"Seeing what CGI has created with BOX and Promax for BMX is really exciting. I'm stoked to carry that design style over to the mountain category and create some exceptional componentry. In speaking with Toby and the team at CGI, I learned about some exciting ideas the group have. It will be a fun challenge to help bring those concepts to market and create something special," Esquibel said.
